Central Park Residence
Designed by Michael and Alexandra Misczynski of Atelier AM, this residence is a complete rebuild and combination of two single-family apartments located in one of Manhattan’s most storied buildings. Conceived as a relaxed New York escape, the 3,800 SQ FT home overlooks the southeast entrance to the park, with views just above the tree line.
The new apartment includes four bedrooms and six baths, with approximately 90 percent of the apartment’s walls clad in French millwork paneling produced by Paris-based Féau Boiseries. Silver-leafed plaster panels and mercury glass mirrors reference the building’s Art Deco origins.
Throughout the residence, new Versailles parquet oak flooring replicates the original pattern found in the building when it opened in 1930. The flooring reinforces the sense of continuity between the apartment’s past and present, grounding the space in its architectural history.
One bedroom features hand-painted wallpaper by de Gournay, adding a layer of artistry and softness. All bathrooms are richly detailed, featuring paneled marble wainscot, casings, vanities, crown moldings, and floors. The result is a meticulously detailed home that showcases historic and world class craftsmanship and overlooks one of New York’s most iconic landscapes.
