Kukio Cottage

Set along the Kona-Kohala coast, Kukio Cottage is a 3,000-square-foot beach retreat built as a sanctuary for clients with deep roots in Hawaii. Designed by Lucas Interior, the home embodies a relaxed and intentional way of living, with ample space to relax, gather, and take in the coastal landscape.

Wrapped in cedar, the dogtrot-style home opens to the sea, enjoying abundant natural light and ocean breezes. Separate structures are linked by weathered ipe boardwalks that blend seamlessly with the surrounding lava rock and natural grasses. Every element—from soulful materials and curated art to sculptural lighting—was crafted to feel just right.

One highlight is the oversized 13-foot pendant in the living room, designed by Belgium’s Eden Design. Suspended like a floating lantern, it serves as a bold, joyful centerpiece in the heart of the home.
