Situated on a hill with views of Lake Washington and the Cascade Mountains, Courtyard House is a 3,480-square-foot home designed for a vibrant family of four. Abundant natural light and gardens woven throughout provide a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of city life. A minimalist palette of finishes celebrates tone and texture and encourages one to enjoy the views and lush landscape. Yellow cedar screens milled in our shop cover floor-to-ceiling windows and doors. Custom concrete walls feature a unique appearance and texture from partially sanded plywood panels. The upper bedroom spaces nestle into the tree canopies above, and enjoy a living roof deck.
In 2020, Courtyard House was honored with a National Housing Award from the American Institute of Architects (AIA) in the one- and two-family custom residences category. The project received additional recognition the following year with a Citation Award in the 2021 AIA Northwest and Pacific Region Design Awards.
