Fox Island Residence

Located on the shoreline of Fox Island, a quiet community in the San Juan Islands, this remodel blends craftsmanship with thoughtful design to enhance both form and function. Our team undertook significant structural and aesthetic updates, including new foundations, an expanded living and great room, a reconfigured kitchen, and a transformed primary suite. The exterior was also overhauled, with refined landscaping and structural improvements that unify the home with its natural surroundings.

A standout feature of the remodel is the custom 14-foot-tall steel pivot door, complemented by Fleetwood pivot doors and windows that enhance indoor-outdoor connectivity. We salvaged and refinished the original cedar panel ceiling, integrating it seamlessly with new clear vertical grain cedar paneling on the walls, ceilings, and columns. Offsite-fabricated oak casework, doors, and cabinets bring warmth to the interiors, along with Baba reclaimed oak wood floors. The gas fireplaces feature custom-fabricated steel surrounds with concealed television and access panels for a sleek, functional design. A striking architectural sandblasted steel bridge spans the second level of the great room, providing access to the upper guest suite, bathroom, office, and outdoor deck.

Exterior updates include Ipe wood decking, the replacement of the original asphalt driveway with eco-friendly pervious pavers, resurfaced pathways, and a tennis court. Landscaping and lighting enhancements—including raw steel planter boxes and landscape walls—bring a refined yet natural finish to the property.
