Designed by architect Gary Gladwish, Eagle Ridge Residence emphasizes sustainability and the use of recyclable materials. Many of the appliances, the fireplace, all of the wood siding, and the bathroom countertop materials were upcycled or recycled. The residence features structural insulated panels, which not only save time in construction and reduce on-site waste but also enhance energy efficiency by minimizing heat loss, thereby lowering energy costs.
Located on Orcas Island, the residence sits quietly on the site and is designed to weather and blend in with its surroundings. Our team took great care to ensure the build process generated minimal waste. At the end of the project, only five SUV loads of waste were removed—most of which were recyclable.
"The client requested an open, simple, low-maintenance design that works with the site so that her connection to the island, forest, and ledges was always present within the house."
