Carriage House and Pergola
Restoration of this 1909 carriage house and pergola required all new structural steel and concrete, and careful refinishing of the existing columns and western facade. We removed the roof to rebuild the structure and to create an opening for the installation of an oversized bronze "Muschel" sculpture by Katharina Fritsch. Weighing in at 1.5 tons, the piece was lifted from a flatbed truck, guided over the scaffolding, and threaded through a hole in the tenting. Our shop created the custom mounting system on the pergola floor using a CNC template taken from the sculpture's base.
